As I was a mom with one child on me and others with me in the cradle worked 12 hours a day cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! It was beginning to be clear, but was far from completed. In order to furnish the house would take a lot of effort both in time and money. It was also going to be a challenge to do my favourite shopping. For my budget to remain in good shape, I went out with my three boys in search for bargains at estate sales. Each week we would spend between Thursday and Saturday in garage sales and estate sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. Then I painted and sanded the driveway during the workweek. The furniture was like this... and that's where I found my love for restoration. I continued to work on furniture even after we had furnished our house. There was an area in the market where I would sell my pieces. I eventually had so many pieces I didn't have a clue what to do with them and I outgrew my space. The house became a venue in which I held open houses. Up to 1000 visitors could see the things on my first floor and purchase the items. Growing Days is the result of all this. Not only was my business thriving but I was growing our sweet family as well. I was trying to find that perfect balance of having starting a business and be a mommy too. Growing Days just seemed to work. Nora my 4th child was born in 2013. My business was going well however I needed a break. I decided to step back and spend some time at home, spending time with my children. The time was right. After a few minutes, my phone began getting busy. Many people called me to ask for advice on home improvement and decorating. They had mainly attended my house during the open houses that were held for furniture. While I was working I began adding clients each day. But it wasn't long before I managed several clients, and had an extremely successful business of home renovation. Most likely, I'd have laughed had I had been told that the venture was going to be part of a forthcoming television show on DIY Network. It's funny to think back to it.
